Expressway S17 (Poland)
Expressway S17 or Express Road S17 (in Polish ''Droga ekspresowa S17'') is an important road in Poland which, when completed, will run from Warsaw, through Lublin, to the border crossing with Ukraine at Hrebenne/Rava-Ruska. Its route runs parallel to National road 17 (DK 17) which it will replace. As of November 2014, out of a planned have been completed. These are three separate sections forming the bypasses of Garwolin, Lublin and Hrebenne. The busier portion of the road between Warsaw and Lublin was to be finished by 2015, but with subsequent reductions in government spending on infrastructure the completion was delayed. It was put to tender September, 2013 and contractors are still being selected for a design-build project, with construction starting about 2016.〔(Szukamy wykonawców kolejnych odcinków S17 ) 〕〔(PDF of government decision posted on http://bip.transport.gov.pl/ )〕 The road southeast of Lublin has lower traffic density and is not likely to be completed before 2020, except for short sections serving as city bypasses. ==Lublin bypass==
On December 17, 2009 the bidding process was started for the contracts to build the section of the road around Lublin, from Kurów to Piaski, which includes the city's east-west bypass road.〔(Announcements ) posted on GDDKiA site, retrieved Dec. 17 2009〕 The construction of this section started in 2010, with the first 13 km section to be opened to traffic in late 2012〔(Dziennik budowy S17: Prezent na 11 listopada )〕 and the rest in 2014.〔( ''Kurier Lubelski'' article from 10 August 2010 )〕 On this section S17 overlaps with S12.
